Bill Cunningham New York

"I'm not interested in the celebrities in their free clothes. That's not fashion." - Bill Cunningham

This was an amazing documentary about Bill Cunningham and his work well his love for fashion. What an incredible human being!! Such heart!! Even his subjects featured in this doc were incredible. You feel in love with each and every one of them. If you love street fashion, raw photography and just the human heart and its passion please watch this!!! You will not be disappointed. I can't even..even..I don't know what to say just speechless...I guess the best way I can describe it is..it made me feel those feelings I'd have when I'd accompany my mother as a little girl to fabric shops. I would be sketching and dreaming about gowns and costumes..just love for that art....JUST WATCH IT!

Here's the description provided by Swank Consulting Firm:
The "Bill" in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirĂ©es for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours." Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham's enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

Oh and here's the link to Bill Cunningham's New York Times articles On the Street

And of course after watching this amazing piece of work I had to re-watch "The September Issue" to end the night right.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello Hello friends and Happy October!!

For those who don't know it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Betsey Johnson with daughter LuLu Johnson

The big Boss Betsey Johnson is a Breast Cancer Survivor and in honor of that and all the women who are battling and survived the disease we held a huge party at the Betsey Camp! So I dawned my skin tight leopard dress and hot pink lipstick!!!! We had a blast partying with Betsey ^.^ But its nearly impossible not to!!! Here are some picks of the events taken by Patrick McMullan.

I think all the Chambord Liqueur had some of our guests a little loopy. A good client and friend of mine said the funniest thing to me :"Oh hey!!! I was just talking to my boyfriend about your ass and how fabulous it is! Wait..is it okay that I'm talking about your ass??" (All in good fun of course!)

Betsey gave an amazing speech about being in the fashion industry while battling breast cancer. Yoplait gave her a party truck where she will be touring throughout the city for the month of October bringing awareness to the disease. As if the night couldn't get better!!!! Meeting LuLu Johnson and high fiving each other for representing the curving girls was fantastic! But then Betsey gushed over me..I WAS OVER THE MOON! Her words:

"Ugh look at u!! I need to take a picture with you Miss bombshell Miss T and A!"

Act 3 Scene 2 "What happening!?"

I started sketching one of the scenes that I've been seeing in my head over and over and over (you get it) again. It has more background story to it but I wish to keep that to myself. Ha so much for personal blog? Anyways posting these sketches up reminded me that I lost one of my very favorite journals. A journal I started two years ago. I remember that sting I felt when I realized it was gone. All my sketches, memories, souvenirs manifested in ink gone. I guess I felt that sting because it kinda felt like it never happened. All my experiences, growth, ideas. But I told myself that's not true. I am a true believer when it comes to "things happening for a reason." Anyways I'm guessing the Universe wishes to give me a fresh start? Clean slate? Or maybe improve on old ideas...that I can remember...where was I going with this?

Anyways I will have the full drawing up soon. I'm getting ready for the NYC Burlesque Festival.

Fashion Night Out at Betsey Johnson

It has been a busy busy past couple of weeks. First Fashion Night Out then the actual Betsey Johnson Fashion show. Oh and the after parties in between. But no complaints here because it has been absolutely fantastic. Meeting all sorts of great people and networking. Plus I've received so much good news in terms of work and projects that...well I am smiling ear to ear. Feeling pretty grateful.

Check out Chris Carr's photography blog. He took tons of great pics at Betsey's FNO.

And if you like check out the Spring RTW 2012 collection! I already see a few pieces I'm adding to my closet. Btw the theme was "T & A" in case you didn't catch that.

P.S. Adobe Muse is a bust. Good Ol' Dreamweaver is the way to go. So my site may take a little longer than expected. But it's all good in the hood.
